Technologies: Unity3D, Marvel API, C#, Leap Motion, Oculus Rift

This project was both fun and frustrating as it took my team and I a while to finally figure out what we wanted to do. (Also, Unity3D/running VR on Macbooks are not exactly great.) We ended up scanning through the available APIs and chose to mix some hardware with an API we thought wouldn't be as popular, which was the Marvel one from Disney. We took the "we want to use these technologies, now what do we do with it" route rather than the other way around, which admittedly might not have been the best way. In the end we managed to decide making a Pokedex inspired program, which was an interactive VR kind of "encyclopedia" or "database" for Marvel characters.

The users can see an inital set of characters that are 'clickable' in the VR environment, which then brings up a panel behind the user with more information about that character. Other characters are searchable. Character data is queried from the API via a C# script inside the Unity program. The VR environment is viewable through Oculus Rift and supported by Unity's engine, and hand motions are detected by the Leap Motion. As a creative nod to the Marvel-verse, the user's 'mouse' to interactive with the environment is in the shape of Mjolnir, which is Thor's hammer.
